This computer graphic elaboration of a sonar image made available on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009 by geoscience Galsi company, shows the outline of a French battleship Danton, sunk in 1917, by a German submarine and recently discovered on the floor of the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Sardinia, Italy. Companies doing an underwater survey for a gas pipeline between Algeria and Italy say they have discovered the French battleship. They say the Danton is sitting upright in over 1,000 meters (yards) of water on the Mediterranean seabed 35 kilometers (22 miles) southwest of the island of Sardinia.
