This article is an analysis of the novel " Season of Stones" by Abdelkader Djemaï. A symbolic novel that refers to the earthquake, the dislocation, among others. Djemaï presents a "novel-game" or a "novel-puzzle", on the subject "pretext and thin". To tell the truth, it is a crisis of language. Writing in this novel is a game for the novelist as the adventure is for the hero. The writer who finds almost by the verb to play the origins of burlesque or hero-comic literature – where the difference is not the narrative machine alone that gets caught up in the playful game but the whole book, down to its stylistic kneading. “Season of Stones”, structured by recurring motifs, by sequences repeated so to speak word for word, the same events, the same fragments come back endlessly in each text, in an ever-changing order with minute variations each time. History is essentially that of writing. The narrator must in fact engage in a long, difficult, disappointing (delicious) deciphering of all the signs: signs of love, sensitive signs and signs of art which are "enveloped" in "Terrace in Rome" and " Season of Stones”.
