Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika (R) walks with German Chancellor

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika (R) walks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel (C) on her arrival to Algiers airport on July 16, 2008. Merkel began a two-day visit to Algeria which local officials said would focus on boosting gas supplies to Germany. Her discussions will also centre on military cooperation, according to the Algerian media, including possible sales of German arms and an offer to help train Algerian troops.
