Like Europe, Turkey is dependent on Russian gas supplies but when the flow stopped from the problematic Ukranian route, it simply asked Russia to increase shipment through an alternative gas pipeline that runs beneath the Black Sea. Turkey, having built alternative gas pipelines from Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan and also receives liquefied natural gas from Algeria, hopes to become a secure energy corridor between the Central Asia and the Middle East to Europe.
