UMBERTO OMAR The Italian secret agent in Muscat 1908-1911 (Documentary Stady) This research uncovers the Italian attempts to final a foot held in the Arabian Gulf especially in Oman early of twentieth century showing failure to use diplomatic methods, before turned to finding a secret agent in Muscat who can provide it with the needed information . This paper presents a documentary study of the correspondence that took place between the secret agent and the Italian authorities, covering the period between 1908 and 1911. It also reveals the tasks entrusted to the secret agent during an increase of colonial competition in the region, accompanied with remarkable rise in arms trading activity . The study represents a pioneering step in studying the Italian Foreign Ministry documents as well as the Italian Colonies Ministry in respect of Oman Modern History. Thus, it is considered as complete new topic and study in this field.
