In the 12the century, Abd al-Mu'min Ibn Ali (1094–1163) established the Almohads State in the Islamic Maghreb, the spiritual leader of this politico-religious movement Ibn Toumert (1080–1130) preached for a new doctrinal school among the Berbers most of them Mliki followers. The opposition of the Maliki scholars was not very clear in the early period. By the rule of the 3rd Caliph, Abū Ya‘qūb Yūsuf; (1135 – 1184), and the revolt of Banu Ghaniya, some of the Maliki scholars shown their opposition to the movement of Ibn Tumert known as Monotheism /Unitarianism (Tawhid).
