الجسد والعناية الصحية به في رحاب حضارات الماء:

Abstract: Beyond its vital importance, water plays a major role in the rituals of body maintenance. From an anthropological point of view, as well as religious and moral, water means fertility, beauty, cleanliness and purification. Although a collective “water-phobia” existed during the medieval times, it did not prevent the Hammam or steam bathing tradition from surviving in the Mediterranean basin. The practice was known since antiquity when the Greek and Roman civilizations idealized the human body. Under the Ottoman Empire, the Hammam remained a temple of spirituality and aesthetics thanks to the moors who gave it a style and an architecture which is appreciated in North Africa up until today. Résumé: Au-delà de son importance vitale, l’eau occupe une place majeure dans les rituels de l’entretien du corps. D’un point de vue anthropologique, religieux et moral, l’eau est fertilité, beauté, propreté et purification. Bien que l’époque médiévale ait connu une «phobie collective » de l’usage de l’eau, cela n’a pas entièrement entravé la tradition du bain dans le bassin méditerranéen, incarnée dans la pratique du « hammam ». Connu depuis l'antiquité par les civilisations qui ont idéalisé le corps telles que la civilisation grecque et la civilisation romaine, l’espace du hammam n’a cessé d’être un monument de spiritualité et d’esthétique sous la gouvernance ottomane grâce au savoir-faire des maures qui lui ont donné un style et une valeur architecturale connu au Maghreb jusqu’au jour d’aujourd’hui. الملخص : على غرار كونه اكسير الحياة، يشغل استعمال الماء في ممارسات العناية الصحية بالجسد دورا أنثروبولوجيا مهما في مزاولة طقوس الطهارة والنظافة الموحى بها دينيا واجتماعيا انطلاقا من نظرة أخلاقية إلى الجسد. وبالرغم من أن العصر الوسيط عرف "رهاب جماعي" من استعمال الماء، إلا أن هذا الاستثناء، لم يكن ليؤثر على حضارة الماء المعروفة منذ القدم في المحيط المتوسطي والمتجسدة من خلال فضاء الحمام. فمما لا شك فيه، أن فضاء الحمام قديم، قدم الحضارات التي مرت من هناك والتي قدست الحياة، الجمال والجسد، كالحضارة الاغريقية والرومانية، إلا أن الحضارة الاسلامية أضافة له بعدا روحيا وجمالا معماريا ألبسه حلة اسلامية من خلال اليد العاملة الأندلسية العارفة بثقافة الماء والتي أعطته شكله المغاربي الحالي.
