This article examines the Ribat (monastery) of Safi on the Atlantic coast of Morocco which is part of the religious history of this country. The Ribat is founded by Abu Mohamed Saleh al-Magiri one of the great figures of Moroccan Sufism in the Almohad era. The ribat built on the Eastern model, successful; in no time, to radiate the masmoudi territory, the Draa and the Sous region, namely along the pilgrimage routes which was one of the essential foundations of the doctrine of the founder. The Ribat hosted unmarried male followers who were planting a rigorous organization imposing complete silence and prayer almost all the time by letting live on donations and alms which differentiates him from his contemporaries in Western Europe where members reserve a part of their time for manual labor
