During the prehistoric period, the Tassili area knew a succession of many human groups, which are different on the socio-economic level, during the Pleistocene, a society exclusively based on hunting and gathering, during the Holocene, hunters - Gatherers will be gradually replaced by human groups practicing pastoralism and domestication of cattle in wet phases, and sheeps and goats at the beginning of arid phases.
All these activities and more are depicted by the artist in the Tassili through his mobile and rock art, as if he has the intention to tell us his story, studying this artistic heritage and especially the rock scenes from the first time, we imagine that most of activities and rituals related to blood; Hunting, butchery, war and confrontations are devoted to men not to women, the deep examination using a new working methodology, shows that these blood-related practices are not exclusively macho (masculine), but to the woman also. This phenomena leads to the question about the position and role of women in the prehistoric societies in the Tassili. Did she practice the games of power and politics? And is the current Tuareg matriarchal society not a continuity of these traditions from the Bovidian period? So a new vision on the Saharan social dichotomy.
